5 professional tips for achieving the perfect (fake) bronzed base tan ahead of summer

Are you activating your product before applying?

We all know how it really works. Before jetting off to an exotic location or hitting the beach in Summer, it’s all about establishing a base tan first.

Gone are the days of hitting the beach a pasty pale hue as the warmer days set in. So, ahead of Summer’s official debut, we’ve enlisted La Beach Founder Carly Brown to explain the formula for a flawless tan from ‘tip to toes’, meaning you can sunscreen up and be sun safe when hitting the beach with the perfect bronzed (fake) base tan!

This is the most important step of all if you want to avoid streaks and tan grabbing which gives you a patchy look

  • Shave and exfoliate the skin 24 hours before your tan.
  • For a flawless and streak-free tan, ensure skin is clean – No moisturiser, no deodorant.

  1. Shake your tanning foam well to ensure the product is active.
  2. Using a mitt apply evenly to the skin and sparingly on elbow and knees
  3. Use big sweeping motions on your larger areas and dabbing motions on your ‘lighter’ areas e.g. wrists.
  4. A mist is perfect for your smaller / delicate areas e.g. wrists, fingers/toes and face
  5. Rinse in lukewarm water after your tan has developed. Use just water to rinse and avoid any fragranced body washes. Be sure to pat (not rub!) yourself dry. Your tan will continue to deepen for 6 hours after rinsing.

Super Tanning Tip: After you have applied your tan you can set it quickly to help it dry faster by using a blow dryer on a cool setting all over your body

Post tanning

If you can ‘hyper-care’ for your tan in the first 24-hours you have the best chance of it lasting and wearing (and wearing off) beautifully. This means no strong soaps, cool showers, no long baths and moisturising well for 24 hours after application.
