When it comes to our skin, we arguably all want the same thing – healthy, glowy, youthful skin that looks good the minute we wake up. The less help from external sources AKA makeup the better, right?

And while an arsenal of eye cream, masks, serums and oils doing their thing will help, it’s what we ingest that will really transform our skin from the inside out. Whether it’s filtered water, alkalised water or the new guard of scientifically-formulated green elixirs, what we choose to drink has the power to elevate our skin to ultimate dewy status.

We’ve heard it a thousand times (because it’s true!), water is the beauty secret of every second celebrity and for good reason. Getting your 2L (or more) a day isn’t going to just quench your thirst, it enables the body to flush out toxins and promotes elasticity and suppleness. Skin feeling tired? Have a giant glass of water and you’ll feel better instantly. Got an eczema breakout? Upping your fluids can help. Dry skin? Yep, you guessed it, more water will help hydrate from the inside out.

Infused water

Some experts believe that acid-forming foods such as alcohol, coffee, red meat and dairy can cause havoc on our bodies. Which is where the alkaline diet comes in – this essentially entails eating more plants, less red meat and reducing processed foods. The idea is the more alkaline your body, the healthier it is. Which is where alkaline water, such as Antioxidant Aqualove alkaline water, comes in. With a pH level of 9-10, it is designed to balance out the body’s generally acidic pH level. Plus it’s now Infused with antioxidants like Selenium, Vitamin D and Vitamin E which all work toward fighting free radicals and promoting healthy cells (and healthy skin!).

Super greens

If you’re going to choose one habit to stick to, make it the latest nutrition and beauty essential – adding 2 teaspoons of a superfoods green powder to water and drink (daily). Essentially superfood powders like Good Green Stuff are packed with essential vitamins, minerals and antioxidants with a huge range of benefits that includes boosting overall vitality, improved energy, clearer skin, healthier hair and nails. But the key part here is consistent consumption. Taking it a few times a week when you remember won’t give you the transformative results you’re after. For optimal results, take daily.
