Here’s how many minutes it takes to burn off Easter eggs

One Cadbury cream egg = 20-minute jog or a 48-minute walk!

Before all the fun Easter activities kick off in full swing, we thought we’d seek out the healthy hacks to ensure we don’t totally lose focus of our health and fitness goals.

So, in an effort to understand exactly what it takes to burn off our favourite Easter treats, we’ve sought tips that’ll help keep you on track AND let you enjoy the festive sweets!

First up, here’s how many minutes of working out you’ll need to do in order to burn off your favourite Easter eggs:


One Cadbury Bunny:

To work off: 23 min swim, 32 min jog, 42 min cycle, or 76-minute walk

One standard Creme Egg:

To work off: 14 min swim, 20 min jog, 27 min cycle, 48 min walk

One milk chocolate Lindt Bunny:

5 min swim. 6 min jog, 8 min cycle, 15 min walk

One mini Cadbury egg:

To work off: 3 min swim, 4 min jog, 5 min cycle, 10 min walk

One hot cross bun:

To work off: 18 min swim, 25 min jog, 33 min cycle, 60 min walk


‘Post-Easter is one of our busiest times for members in the gym. We see a significant increase across the board nationally, and it’s no doubt because people are working off those extra chocolate treats!’ Says Goodlife Health Clubs’ Lance Williams.

 If you want an easy alternative to burning off the Easter treats that may be a little easier than running or swimming, here are some easy ways to integrate exercise into your day, according to Goodlife Health Clubs’ Hayley Wilson.


Water

The more you drink, the more you shrink! When you are indulging in your hot cross buns and Easter eggs – water is a great way to flush toxins from your body as well as making you feel full without consuming extra calories.


Short and fast!

Bursts of exercise for maximum calorie burning. Including interval training (short bursts of an exercise followed by a short rest.) A great example is bodyweight squats, hill sprints or skipping – start with 30 seconds on and 30 seconds off for 5 mins.


Dance like no one is watching! 

Particularly when doing normal jobs like brushing your teeth or doing housework to sneakily burn off those extra calories without noticing. Burning 7-10 calories per minute.


Indulge but don’t overindulge

 Just because it’s Easter, this doesn’t mean we can forget portion control.


Eating is not cheating!

Make sure you don’t show up to events starving or thirsty, this prevents overindulging on food and alcohol!


Have fun!

Laughing sneakily burns 20-40 calories every 10-15 minutes.
