SWEAT trainer Sjana Elise shares her confidence building tips

When it comes to needing a little confidence boost or positve pick-me-up, we’re quick to take a tip or two from SWEAT BAM yoga instructor Sjana Elise Earp.

From actively pursuing a healthy, happy-driven lifestyle, Sjana has shared her tips for postively transforming and reshaping negative thoughts to build confidence.

‘We need to STOP the ‘fat’ talk. We need to stop teaching girls that there is a social expectation and rather celebrate women and their bodies the way they are,’ Sjana shared.

Adding: ‘We need to teach young girls that they are beautiful and that a size, weight or measurement does not define who they are or what they are capable of becoming.’

As humans we are constantly changing. Growing, altering, adapting. Our cells are continuously dying and regenerating. Physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, even on a subconscious level, we shed the parts of ourselves we no longer need, we burn, and then like a phoenix we are rebirthed from the ashes. From an evolutionary perspective, this is one of our greatest strengths and the reason we are such advanced creatures. But I think what’s more extraordinary is that we have the potential, the power, to take control of our own development and choose the way we contour and mould within these changes. We can choose to sit back, allow our minds and bodies to do the process all on their own. Or, we can intentionally step in to our conscious bodies and purposefully dictate, manifest, the outcomes we desire. And we can do this, simply by becoming more aware, more present and more open. Meditation, self care, self love, cultivating happiness & lightness of thought, practicing living with a lightness of heart, kindness, affection, curiosity, passion and playfulness. Where we invest our energy, change grows. Sjana’s tips for building self confidence:

    1. Stop picking out your flaws. When you look in a mirror, do you see your strengths and personality? Do you see yourself as a whole and capable being? Or do you only see your imperfections and impurities? It’s important to adjust your behaviour accordingly. Start focusing and noticing your strengths and what makes you a beautiful person to be around.


    1.  Remove self-critical thoughts. Stop allowing your inner critic to control your life. If you notice a negative thought about yourself, replace it with something happy & uplifting. This will help you become your own cheerleader and help you to encourage and support yourself.


    1. Stop body shaming. There is no right or wrong. There just IS. However you are or however she us, is entirely incomparable. You are both unique, beautiful and wonderful miracles.


    1.  Start a gratitude journal. I think I use this as the answer to almost every problem in life and for good reason. It is awfully hard to be unhappy and negative when we are feeling gratitude and thanks for the things we are blessed with. Try to choose 3-10 things every day and write them down. This doesn’t need to be body-specific, in fact, most of the things you are grateful for are non-physical. This is where you’ll begin to recognize the importance and value of YOU is not related to your physical being and level of perceived attractiveness.
